Talking Talent, a global coaching consultancy committed to improving the world of work by inspiring inclusive cultures where people and organizations can thrive, announces the appointment of Vanessa Liu to Non-Executive Director, The Americas.
“This past year has accelerated changes in work so that organizations need to carefully think about diversity and inclusion to future proof the workplace and tap into top talent pools on a global level,” noted Liu. “Nothing resonates with me more than helping organizations consciously unlock the potential of their workforce. I am eager to become a key contributor to the Talking Talent team to scale and grow our organization and support more inclusive and diverse workplaces.”
Liu has over 23 years of experience with a proven track record of value creation as a serial founder, operator, strategist and investor across renowned companies like McKinsey, SAP, and Trigger Media. In her most recent role as Vice President of SAP.iO (SAP’s early stage venture arm), she was responsible for overseeing accelerator programs devoted to helping enterprise technology startups partner with SAP and get access to customers. During her tenure, she recruited and accelerated more than 75 enterprise software startups, over 80% of which were led by underrepresented founders.
Teresa Hopke, CEO Talking Talent for The Americas, noted, “Vanessa’s professional experience and commitment to accelerating diverse and inclusive workplaces is inspiring and invaluable. We are thrilled that she is joining Talking Talent to support and guide our growth in the Americas and beyond. Her expertise on unlocking the potential of people and organizations will support our vision of delivering a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace for all of our clients and their employees.”
It was a natural fit as Liu has been connected to Talking Talent for 13 years. Chris Parke, CEO Talking Talent, served as her first career coach when Liu went out on maternity leave with her first child. “Coaching enabled me to think much more broadly and to bet on myself as Chris helped me to assess what I truly wanted from my career and put me on a very solid, fulfilling path. It is a truly exciting time to be aligned with Talking Talent and I look forward to continuing the work of helping organizations scale their business through investment in their greatest asset – people.”
Vanessa is the incoming President of the Harvard Alumni Association and serves as a Non-Executive Director of Appen Ltd. (ASX: APX). She is also a board observer of Fevo and is an advisor or investor in multiple start-ups. She graduated magna cum laude with highest honors with an AB in psychology from Harvard University and cum laude with a JD from Harvard Law School. She was a Fulbright Scholar at Universiteit Utrecht in the Netherlands where she conducted independent research on the International War Crimes Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice.
