In a world defined by hybrid work, AI disruption, and rising complexity, one truth emerged loud and clear: connection isn’t a soft skill, it’s a strategic superpower. Across compelling talks, global insights, and collaborative sessions, the event delivered a bold call to action for more human, connected organizations.
A Future Worth Building
Teresa Hopke, President of Talking Talent Americas, opened the afternoon with a heartfelt reflection on her daughters’ future in the workforce. Her challenge to the audience: what kind of workplace are we creating for the next generation? If we want inclusive, empowering, human-first cultures, we need to build them now. It was a powerful reminder that workplace connection isn’t just about today’s KPIs, it’s about legacy.
The Science of Connection
Dr. Mary-Clare Race, Chief Executive Officer of Talking Talent Global, grounded her session in neuroscience with The Connection Paradox, revealing how disconnection undermines performance, cognition, and well-being. She introduced The Connection Code, Talking Talent’s proprietary framework to embed connection across leadership, culture, talent, and life.
From slowing down to showing appreciation, her practical insights demonstrated that connection can and must be designed into everyday business behaviours, not left to chance.
The Evolving Role of Leadership and Technology
Dr. Anna Tavis, Clinical Professor and Chair of the Human Capital Management Department at NYU School of Professional Studies, offered a forward-looking take on how leadership and human capital strategies are evolving alongside technology. She also spotlighted the upcoming NYU Coaching and Technology Summit (July 7–8), where Talking Talent will be present to further explore how coaching and AI can work together to support, not replace, human development.
Global Influence Through Connection
Raul Sanchez, Professor of Global Communication and Cross-Cultural Competence at NYU, and Dan Bullock, Language and Communications Specialist at the United Nations and Professor at NYU, offered practical tools for leading across borders and bridging cultural perspectives through inclusive influence and intentional communication.
Culture in Motion at the United Nations
Liliana Uruburo, People and Culture Strategist and Co-Lead of the New Work movement at the United Nations, shared how this grassroots initiative is shifting the way thousands of UN employees connect, collaborate, and lead. Her stories of transformation illustrated the power of psychological safety, deep listening, and trust to drive true cultural change.
Panel Spotlight: The Business of Connection
Moderated by Dr. Mary-Clare Race, this engaging panel discussion brought together leaders from McKinsey & Company, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Essenta to explore connection from every angle – personal, strategic, and future-facing.
The conversation kicked off with warm-up questions inspired by Arthur Aron’s 1970s research on fast-tracking connection — from “What would constitute a perfect day?” to “What is your most treasured memory?” These personal reflections set a vulnerable, human tone that carried through the session.

World Café: From Insight to Action
The World Café Innovation Lab invited attendees to dig into the real-world questions and challenges around workplace connection. With zones designed to spark play, reflection, and shared ownership, the room buzzed with creativity and collaboration.
A major theme that surfaced across conversations was Artificial Intelligence.
Participants explored how AI is reshaping workplace dynamics and how to find the right balance between automation and human connection.
